Hamzaogullari exhibits impressive staying power at Loomis Sayles

It is now over a decade since Aziz Hamzaogullari founded the Growth Equity Strategies (GES) Team at Loomis, Sayles and Company. During that time he has delivered exceptional value for the firm and its investors alike. The GES team takes a long-term approach to investing with a focus on private equity. They adopt a proprietary bottom-up research philosophy, investing in high-quality companies which look set to lead in their fields for years to come.

Hamzaogullari has received praise for his zeal for investment and for keeping the investor at the centre of every decision he makes. And he has the returns to show that such accolades are warranted. In the 10 years since he’s been at the helm, the Loomis Sayles growth fund has returned 17.35% annually.

He is immensely proud of the team he leads which currently manages assets of £46.3 billion. Hamzaogullari especially lauds their passion for the top-class independent research necessary to cherry-pick businesses with competitive advantages that look set to continue. He has seen the team grow and flourish immensely: when he set the fund up its assets stood at £1.4 billion. What Hamzaogullari has brought to the GES team is a unique growth equity alpha thesis, which truly stands alone in the marketplace. His team operates on a basis of complete trust internally, prioritising investment philosophy and rigorous decision-making.

With an impressive 27 years in investment, Hamzaogullari’s hefty track record began as a senior equity analyst and portfolio manager at Manning & Napier Advisors. From there he went on to head up Evergreen’s Berkeley Street Growth Equity team, before joining Loomis Sayles in 2010 – and he hasn’t looked back since.

Today, as well as having founded GES, being its Chief Investment Officer and the Portfolio Manager for all Cap Growth and Global Growth strategies, Hamzaogullari is also executive Vice President at Loomis Sayles and a distinguished member of its board of directors. It seems that in Loomis Sayles Hamzaogullari truly has found his perfect match and, having consistently outperformed the peer composite group, he comes with a strong recommendation from City House Investors.
